Cardiac Holter

Cardiac Holter monitoring is a non-invasive, painless test that records the heart’s electrical activity continuously over a dedicated time span, usually 24 or 48 hours, using a portable device.

For the test, five electrodes are applied to the patient’s chest and connected to a small battery-powered recorder, which is worn for a set period. This allows continuous recording of the heart’s electrocardiographic trace while the patient carries out normal daily activities. During monitoring, patients can perform their usual tasks without restrictions, taking care to avoid excessive movements that could detach the electrodes.

The Holter exam has no contraindications. At the end of the monitoring period, the patient returns to the pharmacy to have the device removed. The recorded data is promptly sent to a cardiologist for interpretation. The patient will receive valuable information about their heart’s activity throughout the day, including any possible cardiac conditions, by collecting the specialist’s report at the pharmacy within 24 hours.

Upon request, extended Holter monitoring (eg. 48 hours or more) is also available.

The service costs €70 and includes the cardiologist’s report.

An appointment is required and can be booked online or by phone.

The interpretation of the Holter ECG is carried out by specialist cardiologists from LifeCare Italia.
